Position Summary
The Acquisitions Registrar is a key collaborator in the object acquisition process, and in the documentation, care, and exhibition of the collection. As part of a collaborative team of curators, collections managers, and acquisitions staff, the Acquisitions Registrar helps build and care for a collection of more than 750,000 objects documenting the archaeological past up to current events. The WHS Collections Division is actively planning for a new history center.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to ensure legal paperwork related to object donation and the object collection is complete, accurate, and maintained appropriately; process incoming donations and create object records in Argus (the WHS's collections management database); and participate in the exhibit design process. The Acquisitions Registrar is also responsible for the WHS's incoming and outgoing loans program.

Salary Information
The salary will be between $26.00 - $28.00 per hour ($54,080 - $58,240 annually) in accordance with the provisions of the current Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 13, range 04. The civil service classification is Curator. A 12-month probationary period will be required.

Qualifications
Please make sure to describe the following qualifications within your resume and/or letter of qualifications in order to be considered for this position.
Minimally qualified candidate will have experience in two of the following:
  • Experience (or relevant coursework) in one of the following: accessioning, processing, or cataloging of new, incoming object donations.
  • Experience with the use of artifact collections management databases such as Argus, EMu, PastPerfect, or The Museum System (TMS).
  • Experience (or relevant coursework) in preparing and/or reviewing deeds of gift and other legal paperwork related to the acquisition of historical objects.
In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will additionally have experience in one of the following areas:
  • Experience managing incoming loans for exhibit purposes including at least one of the following: condition reports, object photography, insurance forms, and facility reports.
  • Knowledge of m useum collections management and registration standards and methods
  • Experience in two or more of the following: accessioning, processing, or cataloging of new, incoming object donations.
