Accounts Payable Clerk

Summary: The Accounts Payable Clerk will work closely with the Accounting Manager. This position supports the Firm’s Accounting Department, and involves many aspects of the Account Payable process.

Essential Job Functions:

• Process high volume of vendor invoices in compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording Accounts Payable data.
• Reconcile the Accounts Payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted.
• Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.
• Generate reports detailing Accounts Payables status
• Understand GL expense accounts and cost centers
• Understands compliance issues around Accounts Payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.)
• Reviewing and Approving Expense Reimbursement reports on a daily basis
• Interaction with company legal team and billing department as needed.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• At least 5 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Highly motivated, strategic focus. Ability to understand and support Firm goals and strategy.
• Dependable team player with ability to work independently within scope of responsibilities.
• Excellent organizational planning and project management skills.
• Ability to multitask and meet concurring deadlines.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; comfortable interacting with diverse groups of attorneys, firm management, and outside contacts.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting and/or relevant work experience.
• Prior experience in the legal industry preferred.
• At least 5 years in an Accounts Payable role preferred.
• Prior experience with Aderant, Chrome River, or Elite preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• In office position
• Normal office environment; no unusual physical demands.
• Ability to work extended hours when necessary

Job Type: Full-time
