Telework Information: This position requires full-time attendance in the office, working onsite five days per week.
This position will run until filled with the following cutoff dates for review: 2/12/24, 3/4/24, 3/22/24, 4/12/2024 and every two weeks until filled.
Anticipated Interview Dates: In person interviews are anticipated to be held two weeks from each cutoff date.
CalPERS seeks an Accounting Administrator I, Specialist in the Financial Reporting and Accounting Services Division, Accounts Payable Unit.
The position serves in a lead capacity in the unit and in the absence of the unit supervisor. Assists the unit supervisor as a technical expert in all Accounts Payable Unit activities and responsibilities including knowledge transfer of unit activities, responsibilities, and deliverables. Assists in the training and development of Accounts Payable staff by training new Accounts Payable team members on processes, procedures, PeopleSoft Financial System (PeopleSoft), and State Street Bank Cash Manager wire system. Assists staff in research, data analysis, information gathering, and resolving various exceptions and problems related to their daily work assignments. Duties include reviewing and approving administrative expense claim schedules; input and approval of investment expense and capital call wires; reconciliation of the commercial loan program and all investment expense general ledger accounts; preparation and completion of various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Working Conditions

  • This position is not eligible for telework and the duties above will be performed onsite at CalPERS Headquarters.
  • Must be able to work in the office Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Must be able to work in a low wall, cubicle environment with bright natural and fluorescent light.

Special Requirements Statement of Qualifications
Please provide a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for the hiring manager's review. Applications received without an SOQ or those that do not respond to the specific statements below will not be considered.
The SOQ must be typed, titled "Statement of Qualifications", and each statement must be numbered and answered listing all relevant experience, education, and training, including places of employment, dates, and duties performed. The SOQ must not exceed three pages in length and must not have font smaller than 12 point and address the following:
  • Describe your knowledge and experience if any, with Accounts Payable activities associated with administrative/investment related expenses, general ledger activities, reviewing contracts and purchase orders. Please include the type of administrative/investment expenses, financial data, reports, and accounting systems used.
  • Describe a time when you became aware of a potential problem and resolved it before it became an issue.
  • Describe your experience, if any, successfully leading a team.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification should be included in your application package to clearly demonstrate how you meet the MQs for this position.
