Accounting Supervisor

Empire Cooler Service has been the leading supplier of refrigeration and ice making equipment in the Chicago area since 1932. We sell, lease and service equipment to the largest restaurant, hotel, and hospitality groups in the Midwest. We are a "white-glove service company" whose goal is to anticipate and exceed our customer's needs in this ever-changing hospitality market.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Supervisor to join our team. The role reports to the Director of Finance and has three- four direct reports.
This role is a combination of hands-on tasks and supervisory responsibilities. The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day accounting work including reporting, interacting with customers on billing issues, and supervision of the accounting staff including reviewing their work, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills and will be an excellent communicator. He / She should have strong organization skills with attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the Account Team: Lead, mentor and supervise a small team of accounting clerks, accounting specialists, in addition to an outsourced team in India. Provide guidance, assign tasks, and ensure the team meets deadlines and maintains high quality standards.
Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Streamline accounting procedures and workflows for optimum productivity.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor variances and work closely with management to analyze financial performance against budget goals.
Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable: Oversee the billing/Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable function to ensure accuracy and collection of outstanding customer receivable balances, accurate recording, and timely payment of vendor invoices.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations. Stay updated on changes in accounting and tax laws. Implement necessary changes in internal procedures to maintain compliance.
Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, interpret trends, and provide insightful recommendations to management. Analyze financial data and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits. Provide necessary documentation and explanations, ensuring a smooth audit process.
Software Utilization: Utilize accounting software and tools proficiently. Train team members on software usage and ensure optimal utilization of available resources.
Customer and Vendor Communication and Management: Oversee the communications with customers and vendors to ensure accurate information is provided on a timely basis in a professional manner.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
