89bio is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative therapies for the treatment of liver and cardio-metabolic diseases. The company's lead product candidate, pegozafermin (BIO89-100), is a specifically engineered glycoPEGylated analog of FGF21. Pegozafermin is being developed for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and severe hypertriglyceridemia (SHTG).
THE ROLE
Reporting initially to the Senior Director of Global Finance and over the longer term to the Associate Director of Accounting the Accounting Operations, Senior Managerwill be responsible for all aspects of operations and processes in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for month end, Quarter end and year end closing procedures as required.
- Perform close related activities, including assigned reconciliations, research transactions, assist with Clinical Trial, CMC and other R&D and G&A accruals etc.
- Assist the Associate Director in overseeing the AP function, ensuring that PO's are in place, investigate exceptions, maintain dashboards etc.
- Responsible for adherence to the SOX controls for AP, Accruals and assisting in other areas. Will also, over time, be expected to enhance existing controls as appropriate.
- Work closely with the Director of FP&A to ensure appropriate coding of invoices and investigating any exceptions.
- Assist in reviewing and resolving payment blocks placed on vendors and/or specific invoices.
- Update procedures for business processes as needed.
- Advanced familiarity with Coupa and NetSuite.
- Assist with ad hoc assignments, project work, testing of new processes and procedures within ERP and other Systems as needed.
- Help maintain Vendor Master File.
THE QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 plus years of related accounting experience.
- Industry experience highly desired.
- In depth knowledge of general ledger posting process.
- Excellent interpersonal skills/ highly collaborative, team player and ability to cultivate strong internal/external network of relationships.
- The ability to anticipate and remediate problems that arise is essential.
- Very proactive, detail-oriented, organized and diligently follow-up on all issues until they are resolved satisfactorily.

SALARY & LEVEL
89bio considers a range of factors when determining the salary and level. These considerations mean actual salary and level may vary. The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $190,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
