Reporting to the Sr. Director, Financial Reporting, this position is responsible for understanding and leading all aspects of embecta global intercompany operations. This individual will be responsible for coordination efforts that will support managing and reconciling intercompany domains (e.g., transfer pricing, accounting, allocations, AR/AP, etc.) acting across process areas while recognizing the related intercompany impact on the monthly close cycle, local statutory and tax reporting, expense recognition, and foreign exchange (FX) impacts. This role will coordinate with key stakeholders around the design of standardized intercompany policies, business process controls and a governance model.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Owns the end-to-end (E2E) Intercompany process design and execution across regions as the Global Process Owner
- Lead the monthly close intercompany process by providing timely and accurate review and guidance for posting of intercompany entries.
- Liaise with shared service business partners, functional teams (e.g., Tax, Treasury, Finance Systems, FP&A, etc.) and other business stakeholders to support the global intercompany processes.
- Enforce adherence to policies and manage feedback loop; research and assist in resolution of disputes and mitigation of risks.
- Maintain intercompany product flowcharts that will be used by Finance and other functional teams.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of embecta intercompany invoicing and transactional trade flows, intercompany netting, and settlement processes. Educate Finance teams on intercompany product flow, transfer pricing and settlement processes. Coordinate as needed with Treasury to ensure global IC settlement and reconciliation process execution aligns to the overall IC strategy
- Support the team's knowledge development and act as a subject matter expert on overall intercompany related topics.
- Research and resolve disputed invoices and other intercompany transactions.
- Support monitoring of intercompany A/R and A/P aging statements and providing recommendations to resolve issues.
- Prepare journal entry guidance related to non-routine intercompany transactions such as intercompany loan arrangements, capital contributions between legal entities, etc.
- Support the intercompany settlement process, collaborating with Treasury, Tax, and local finance teams.
- Produce ad-hoc analysis, evaluating transactions from various entities.
- Identify areas of process creation, improvement and/or automation opportunities and document processes where documentation may not exist.
- Support coordination with global key stakeholders in accounting and finance teams to enable process and system improvements for the intercompany process.
- Research transactions to ensure US GAAP compliance.
- Understanding of Cost of Sales (COS) and Profit in inventory reserve required to ensure accuracy in both external and internal financial reporting for embecta.
- Understanding of SAP ICMR (Intercompany Matching and Reconciliation) for end-to-end intercompany non-product cross company charges processing, including implementation and user experience
- Participate in the establishment of company controls, SOX testing and special project.
- Participate on project teams for Software and System Implementations.
- Participate in quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
- Participate on multiple projects and support in providing oversight and guidance to a growing team.
- Perform other accounting and financial tasks as may be required from time to time.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Minimum 5-7 years of diverse experience in a global publicly traded company with a background in global consolidations, accounting, financial reporting, monthly close, and finance systems.
- Preferable mix of public accounting experience at a Big 4 accounting firm and private company accounting experience.
- Subject Matter Expert knowledge of intercompany accounting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- BS or BA in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related degree from an accredited university
- CPA is preferred.
