Company Overview:
We are a mid-sized trucking company specializing in Over the Road Transportation across 49 states and Canada. Currently, we are in search of an experienced, self-motivated Accounting Manager. Location: This is not a remote position. The role is based out of our Lombard, Illinois office.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight: Manage monthly financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. Ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Process Improvement: Streamline financial processes and systems for better efficiency.
- Strategic Planning: Assist in strategic decision-making to enhance financial performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate financial insights to management and maintain external partnerships.
- Invoicing & Collections: Oversee invoicing, settlements, and collections. Address late payments and discrepancies.
- Driver Communication: Manage documentation, including lost PODs, and address driver inquiries.
- Quarterly IFTA Report Assistance: Assist in the preparation and submission of quarterly IFTA reports.
- Accounting Operations: Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R).
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile all balance sheet and bank accounts to maintain accuracy.
- Departmental Collaboration: Effectively communicate and partner with other departments to ensure financial information is accurately captured and reported.
- Payments & Banking: Send wire and ACH payments. Monitor Positive Pay requirements with the bank.
- Procedures & Controls: Develop and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the finance department.
Requirements:
Experience: 5+ years in accounting within the trucking transportation industry.
Skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments, assisting and supporting team members:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
High degree of attention to detail.
Education: Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance. CPA or CMA is a plus.
Language: Proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not required.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 0800-1700. Our support team is available for nights and weekends to ensure continuous operations.
