Job Description
Purpose of Position
The Accounting Customer Service Assistant is a key role that supports the Accounting Department by managing accounting inquiries. This role is critical to the efficiency of the department by providing excellent Customer Service, the ability to research issues and report back on many of the inquiries, and the routing of necessary escalations to the appropriate parties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as a key point of contact for all accounting inquiries.
- Provide exemplary service and information to customers in a timely manner (determine what timely means).
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures internal controls as dictated through standard operating procedures.
- Create a positive experience from beginning to the end of the transaction.
- Escalate higher level issues that they cannot solve to Management.
- Provide data/information to Management ask requested trending issues.
- Adhere to the company’s policies and procedures at all times when assisting customers.
- Identify potential areas of cost savings through process improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Two (2) years’ experience in a dynamic Customer Service environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Works well with a team but is also a dynamic self-starter, who takes ownership of a task and completes it in a timely fashion.
- Possesses a customer-first attitude and strives to provide stellar Customer Service to internal and external customers is a must.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism, including the ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong computer and internet competence, along with the ability to learn new tools and systems quickly and thoroughly.
- Ability to perform under pressure by being able to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Must be proactive and resourceful.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
