Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel (STTI) is a Jewish Synagogue in Los Angeles. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team. This position is crucial in managing the temple’s financial operations, including tracking and handling donations, dues, and tuition collections. The ideal candidate will manage the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments and approvals.

Duties include and are not limited to:
Serve as the sole accounting contact, under the supervision of the Director of Operations, and supporting the Vice President of Finance.
- Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
- Oversee the accounts receivable process, ensuring accurate tracking and collection of donations, dues, and tuitions.
- Manage and oversee the accounts payable process.
- Prepare monthly financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing accounts.
- Compare actual results to budgets.
- Prepare all the material needed for the annual closing of the books.
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy.
- Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts and posting transactions.
- Record cash receipts and deposits.
- Issue invoices and process receipts and payments.
- Ensure that receivables are collected promptly.
- Post member transactions to member accounts in our internal management software system.
- Assist with preparing financial documentation to submit for financing or applications for economic relief benefits from the government.
- Interface with members regarding their temple financial accounts.
- Act as primary contact for Kesef on Shul cloud and QuickBooks inquiries.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bookkeeping experience & formal education, bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area - an advantage
- At least three years experience as a full charge bookkeeper and or staff accountant
- Attention to Detail
- Team player strong administrative and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Knowledge and practical experience with desktop QuickBooks – a must
- Knowledge and practical experience with ADP, Shul cloud, helpful.
- Experience working for a non-profit organization is an advantage.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
