Summary Description:
The Accounting Clerk assists the Chief Financial Officer in accounting functions for the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, bank reconciliations, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Assists with accounts payables functions as needed.
- Assists with accounts receivables functions as needed.
- Assists in completion of bank reconciliations.
- Assists in completion of general ledger reconciliations.
- Assists with sales tax and business tax filing.
- Maintains an accurate chart of accounts.
- Maintains an orderly accounting filing system.
- Assists in timely and complete financial statements.
- Coordinates the preparation of the annual financial report.
- Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company fiscal operations.
- Calculates and issues financial metrics.
- Reviews and researches variances from the budget and reports significant issues to management.
- Provides financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audits.
- Complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Performs other tasks as required by CFO and/or President.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
