SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Accountant I position in Facilities Finance is to provide support for the processing and reporting of project costs to ensure accuracy and consistency between the institutional general ledger and design and construction project sub-ledger (Timberline). This is accomplished by applying practical knowledge of and experience in accounting systems and practices to the process of project cost accounting.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Project Reconciliations - Performs monthly project cost reconciliations to ensure accuracy between MDACC general ledger, OBIEE and construction accounting sub-ledger (Timberline). The process includes identifying discrepancies, analyzing data and resolution of problems arising during the reconciliation process.
Document Processing - Processes project cost items including purchase requisitions, invoices, and applications for payment to ensure compliance with established procedures, regulations and contract terms.
Conflict Resolution - Assists in facilitating resolutions of issues related to project cost items by seeking and providing timely information as needed to secure required approvals from Accounts Payable, Asset Management, PM (Project Managers)/PPM (Principal Project Managers)/PD (Project Directors), HUB department, vendors and/or Supply Chain Management, when needed and as appropriate.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related. One year of experience required with degree in Business Administration or related field. With a degree in Accounting, no experience is required. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
