Position: Accessibility Designer / Engineer
Location:Remote
Type: This position is Full Time, however contingent on Project Win.
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Accessibility Designer / Engineer to join our team, dedicated to developing inclusive digital solutions that meet and exceed ADA Compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA, 2.1 AA, or 2.0 AA) standards. This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our products and services are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accessibility design and engineering, with a passion for creating digital environments that are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for every user.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement accessible web and mobile applications, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA, 2.1 AA, or 2.0 AA standards.
- Conduct accessibility audits and reviews across various stages of the product development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to integrate accessibility into product design and development from the outset.
- Develop and maintain documentation on accessibility guidelines, best practices, and standards for internal and external stakeholders.
- Utilize and innovate tools, to automate and enhance accessibility testing and remediation processes.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on accessibility standards, tools, and techniques.
- Stay abreast of current trends, technologies, and regulations in digital accessibility to continually improve our accessibility practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in accessibility design and engineering, with a proven track record of developing accessible digital products.
- In-depth knowledge of ADA Compliance, WCAG 2.2 AA, 2.1 AA, or 2.0 AA standards, and other relevant accessibility laws and guidelines.
- Experience with accessibility audit tools, assistive technologies, and accessibility testing methodologies.
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web development frameworks from an accessibility perspective.
- Familiarity with AI technologies and their application in enhancing digital accessibility.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Certifications in accessibility (such as IAAP CPACC, WAS, or similar) are highly desirable.
