We are a proud equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, and we seek applicants with deep connections to the cultural communities to which our students belong. We actively seek and encourage applications from women, people of color, persons with disabilities, and individuals with protected veteran status.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Accessibility Specialist formulates, implements, monitors, and evaluates appropriate services for students with disabilities who seek support through the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD). The position reviews disability documentation and works through the interactive process with the student to effectively implement disability law. The Accessibility Specialist develops, monitors, adjusts, and evaluates individual accommodation plans for students with disabilities. This involves meeting with individual students for the intake/interview process, reviewing and interpreting confidential psycho-education evaluations, assessing individual student needs on a case-by-case basis, and determining and providing disability accommodations to qualified students.

The Accessibility Specialist assists students with disabilities who experience significant educational barriers by meeting regularly with them on educational strategies and skill development for organization and time management. This position is expected to stay up to date on industry trends to develop and improve training in time management skills and academic planning strategies.  The individual in this role assists students with the acceptance, understanding, and management of their disability in a higher education setting.  The Accessibility Specialist develops and maintains collegial relationships with Normandale faculty and staff for the benefit of students, and guides students with general college procedures. The Accessibility Specialist reports to the Academic Support Services Director.
