JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose Statement:
Contributes to the district's mission and vision to ensure exemplary education that inspires excellence and success within every learner by maximizing the capacity of special education teachers to provide appropriate instruction. Essential Functions
- Provides on-site consultation regarding teacher's area of performance (i.e. Resource, SCILLS, SPICE, Behavior, Secondary ELA/Social Studies, Secondary Math/Science).
- Develops and delivers a wide variety of professional development trainings related to various aspects of special education remediation and intervention curriculums.
- Provides support with curriculum-based assessments and data collection.
- Supports educators with research-based assessments to measure student baselines and progress on goals.
- Ensures fidelity of district implemented curriculum and assessments, related to special education instruction.
- Provides IEP facilitation training and support, when requested or needed
- Assists staff in analyzing curriculum-based data
- Facilitates IEP Open Labs for teacher support
- Attends required department and campus meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with Special Education Parent Council regarding Transition Nights for parents, as needed.
- Collaborates with Special Education Coordinators as needed.
Skills:
- Effectively implement cognitive coaching model with teachers.
Accurate and effective working knowledge of:
- IEP content and specific IEP issues relative to area of coaching responsibility
- District curriculum initiatives
- Currently implemented curriculum in area of coaching responsibility
- Requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), other applicable federal and state disability laws, and their implementing regulations as these relate to special education instructional practice.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues in writing and verbally.
- Develop/recommend interventions and practices within the teacher's capacity to implement, given the classroom context.
Responsible to appropriate Special Education Coordinator. Working Environment:

Experience
Two or more years' experience as a special educator in a school setting.
