Marion County Emergency Services is seeking to hire 911 dispatchers at NECOMM, it's regional dispatch center in Hannibal, which serves all of Marion, Lewis and Ralls counties in Northeast Missouri. This is a rare opportunity for you to become part of an excellent public safety team! More than just a job, you would be the "first, first responder". Every time you see police, fire and emergency medical services responding to a call, a 911 Telecommunicator has been the coordinator of that response. We are the calm, professional, rarely seen, but integral members of providing public safety dispatching, life-saving instructions, and service to our communities.
Status: Full-time, non-exempt, benefited; Part-time, benefit eligible
Working hours: Varying shifts. 24/7 Operation. Our 12 hour shift schedule allows for approximately 15 days off per month! Successful candidates are willing and able to work any assigned shift at the agency's discretion (6A-6P, 6P-6A, 2P-2A, other shifts as assigned).
Qualifications: Successful applicants will be at least 18 years old when hired; have a high school diploma or GED; have a valid driver's license; be able and willing to work any assigned shift, scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends and holidays; have the ability to type 35 wpm; will not have pled guilty to or been convicted of a felony; have no criminal convictions within the last two years (excluding traffic violations); meet minimum qualifications set forth by FBI and MSHP CJIS Security policy; pass a pre-employment selection examination and drug screening; pass a background investigation, and obtain and maintain certifications required for the position. Training and required certification are provided by the agency, must have the ability to travel away from home for up to 4 days for some required training.
Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $18.11/hour with pay increase upon successful completion of training to $22.13/hour. The training program is usually around 6 months in duration. Additional pay for overtime and holidays worked.
