Job Description
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing 15-30 permanent and temporary employees in the areas of employee safety and food safety on 2nd Shift.
Shift is 3:00pm to approximately 1:00am
Duties and Responsibilities
* Responsible for working closely with the production scheduler to ensure that all production requirements are met. Monitoring all production lines to ensure that all lines are running efficiently on a daily basis.
* Supervise Team Leads, Machine Operators, and Product and Material Handlers.
* Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
* Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process.
* Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on Shift Production summaries.
* Provide manufacturing information by analyzing production performance records and data such as KPIs and Metrics to work on continuous improvement and cost savings, answering questions and responding to requests.
* Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
* Build and maintain good relationships that provide good feedback on all areas of work performance.
* Daily training and follow-up on product SOPs.
* Monitor employees" work performance closely with the safety manager to foster a safe working environment.
* Plan and facilitate department meetings with all direct reports focusing on employee safety, food safety and departmental opportunities.
Qualifications
* High School diploma or GED required. Associate, College Degree, or equivalent preferred.
* Knowledge and understanding of food and/or meat processing, quality assurance programs, GMPs, SQF and HACCP IS A MAJOR PLUS
* 3 years of experience working in the meat/poultry or food processing industry (PLUS)
* 3 years of Supervisory experience (REQUIRED)
* 3 years of Production experience (REQUIRED)
* Bilingual is a MAJOR PLUS
* Must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel skills.
* Must be able to work in teams and be self-motivated.
* Must be able to work Saturdays when needed
