Lab Summary: The Standards & Mobility Innovation team is committed to developing technologies that enable ubiquitous access to information and provide immersive multimedia experiences for mobility users. Our research focuses on:
- Wireless standards and technology including 5G/6G, Wi-Fi, FiRa/UWB, MPEG, AOM, CSA Matter, CSA ACWG, CCC, etc.
- RF & fast prototyping of 5G and IEEE 802 wireless systems and/or use cases
- Multimedia standards and technology including VR, HDR, All-IP delivery
- IoT standards and Smart Home connectivity/sensing technology
Position Summary: Power management IC design intern will join the effort to develop the-state-of-the-art envelope tracking IC for next generation of mobile broadband technology at Samsung Research America in Plano, Texas. We are looking for highly motivated interns with strong IC design/research skills as well as interests in communication systems background
Position Responsibilities:
- Design, simulate and layout of high-performance power converter ICs including DC-DC converter for wideband envelope tracking power amplifier
- Conduct feasibility study with transistor and behavior-level simulation
- Document the results toward final review
- Validate performance of circuits, modules, and systems using standard test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and VSA
Required Skills:
- PhD student in EE preferable or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Solid understanding of analog and power IC design fundamentals and DC-DC converter architectures
- Design experience in DC-DC converters building blocks like hysteretic comparators, bandgap, opamp and switched-cap circuits
- Experience using GaN or BCD process is a plus
- Proficient using Cadence and ADS. Experience in Verilog A modelling is a plus
- Hands on experience using PMIC test equipment (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, VSA etc.)
- Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
