Job Description
Tokyo Electron America, Inc. a subsidiary of Tokyo Electron Limited, a global, multi-billion dollar corporation and a leader in the semiconductor equipment industry is seeking Research Scientist candidates. Tokyo Electron markets a wide range of semiconductor production equipment (SPE) products and provides outstanding service and support to semiconductor device manufacturers. TEL's world-renowned products and technologies support diverse customer needs for the manufacturing of increasingly sophisticated semiconductors.
This internship will be payrolled via our payroll processing provider.
Position Summary:
TEL is seeking an intern with low-temperature plasma science and plasma nano-process expertise to work on the growth mechanism of amorphous carbon for HAR etch hard mask application in the Concept and Feasibility Labs (CFL) of Tokyo Electron America Technology Department, located in Austin, Texas.
Responsibilities:
• Develop the understanding on the stress, density, and plasma species/energy relationship in plasma deposition experiment and simulation.
• Utilize data-driven plasma science and plasma simulation including machine learning and explainable AI to accelerate the fundamental understanding.
• Develop the first-principals density function theory taking account of the pulsing to address the correlation between film property and plasma chemistry and physics
• Communicate with teams in the US and Japan to understand project guidelines, scope, and deliverables.
• Good communications skills in both Japanese and English are critical to the project assignment.
• Strong emphasis is placed on candidates that can find solutions to difficult problems through structured project management while working in a team environment.
Qualifications:
• The candidate should be pursuing a B.S. or M.S. or Ph.D. degree in engineering, physics, chemistry or equivalent field.
• Knowledge of plasma science and plasma-based nano-process in general is desirable.
• Knowledge of quantum chemistry simulation.
• Knowledge of data-driven plasma simulation and machine learning / AI are desirable.
• Experience working in a Linux cluster environment is desirable.
• Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB, python, C/C++, etc. is desirable.
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry is desirable.
