Position Description
* Organizes and maintains comparative specimens; Creates and maintains a digital database for specimen inventory; Facilitates access to comparative and archaeological specimens for students, interns, and visiting scholars.
* Installs and maintains software for processing, organizing, and analyzing microscopy image files, photogrammetry and 3D image files, and related tasks.
* Trains lab users in various methods of computer-based biostatistics, including zooarchaeological analyses using R interfaces and other related tasks.
* Acts as a liaison to various individuals and units including: the Departmental Laboratory Manager on tasks such sample preparation for ZooMS analyses and ordering supplies for the Zooarchaeology Lab, and the collections division staff of the Peabody Museum
* Supports programs hosting zooarchaeology internships for graduate, undergraduate, and high school students.
* Prepares archaeological samples for stable isotope analysis and radiocarbon dating.
* Helps maintain safety protocols and standards as set forth by Harvard University's Office Environmental Health and Safety.

Job Summary
This position will manage daily laboratory functions, including research, curation, and teaching, for the Department of Anthropology's Zooarchaeology Laboratory at Harvard University. The Lab Manager will support the teaching of laboratory courses and provide support for student research. Responsibilities include supporting daily laboratory functions and research by purchasing supplies, curating animal bone specimens, overseeing laboratory safety, maintaining equipment, and providing general lab support. The Lab Manager will also oversee the computational infrastructure of lab-- including lab computers, tablets, digital storage, and software required for teaching and research-- and should be willing to help train students on the usage of digital resources. The Lab Manager may contribute to ongoing faculty research projects, including analysis of data, preparation of written documents, presentations, protocols, proposals, and manuscripts, and the publication of findings as needed.

Work Format Details
This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. This may include in-person during emergency situations (if applicable). Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
