Job description

Associate Director, Lab Operations and Facilities Management
Company Overview
Repertoire Immune Medicines is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company working to unlock and direct the remarkable power of the human immune system to prevent or treat cancer, as well as autoimmune and infectious disease. The company was founded on the belief that understanding the repertoire of T cell receptor (TCR)-antigen immune synapses that drive health and disease represents one of the greatest opportunities for innovation in medical science. Repertoire scientists created and developed the DECODETM suite of technologies, which allow in-depth characterization of TCR-antigen pairs, and the ability to deploy this information in the form of novel targeted immune medicines to fundamentally reprogram the immune system to kill tumors or induce immune homeostasis.
From its sites in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Zurich, Switzerland, Repertoire’s team of approximately 75 is creating a new pipeline of therapeutic immune medicines enabled from its DECODE discovery platform. Repertoire is currently using its proprietary platform to discover novel epitopes and TCRs from patients with autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis, creating programmable tolerizing mRNA vaccines to restore immune homeostasis in these indications. In oncology, Repertoire’s decoding of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and the antigens they target is enabling development of TCR bispecifics and mRNA cancer vaccines as immune oncology-based therapeutics to treat solid tumors.
On-site Position in Cambridge, MA
Role Overview
As a key member of the Research & Development Team, the selected candidate will provide management of our office facilities and R&D laboratory environment. The ideal candidate is a “hands-on”, highly organized leader with strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of the activities, processes, and policies necessary for a safe, efficient, and compliant laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • The Associate Director of Lab Operations and Facilities Management is responsible for all laboratory and facility operations including management of assets, vendors, consumables, waste, as well as supporting lab and office growth strategies. In addition, the selected candidate will provide management and oversight of building service support such as janitorial, pest control, and other occupant services. The incumbent will be supported in these activities by a Laboratory Operations Technician.
  • Maintain and optimize processes within the lab to increase efficiency and effectiveness, including managing biologics and chemical inventories, lab consumables, and waste disposal.
  • Work with R&D leaders to organize and manage current and future state of the company’s lab space and resources, including logistics (inventory, PM, and corrective maintenance) of laboratory equipment.
  • Manage the overall budget, in conjunction with the Finance Team, inclusive of service contracts, repairs and maintenance, parts and consumables, and on-site instrumentation contractors.
  • Responsible for overseeing the ordering, inventory, and fiscal oversight of laboratory consumables.
  • Conduct minor repairs, daily, within competency level. Seek external support for other service needs.
  • Oversee lab safety and regulatory compliance, including tracking of biologics, chemicals, and hazardous materials and enforcing PPE policy and lab safety rules, in conjunction with safety consultants.
  • Plan and manage company-wide and team lead laboratory user meetings and generate ideas for improving efficiency and productivity in the laboratory operations.
  • Lead and be a part of a 24-hour response team for Facilities and EH&S emergencies.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Previous post-graduate laboratory experience highly desired.
  • Typically, 8 to 10+ years’ experience working in Lab Operations or facility management roles with 4+ years in a role that includes staff management, preferably in the biotechnology industry.
  • Previous experience managing vendors, budgets, and overseeing laboratories and equipment.
  • Expertise in contract negotiations, shipping/receiving, and consumables management.
  • Strong collaborator who thrives on working with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed environment and possesses the ability to adjust accordingly to accommodate changing priorities.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in local, state, and federal guidelines for safety, shipping, waste disposal, and pH systems.
  • Training/certifications in DOT Ground Transportation, Hazmat, General Lab Safety and CPR/AED/First Aid preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting moderately heavy boxes and office equipment (up to 50 pounds) and trash, prolonged standing, moving gas tanks, etc. May also require work in dusty and dirty environments and work with noisy machinery such as air compressors and HVAC equipment.
  • Specific and uncompromised vision abilities are required for the essential functions of the job.

Repertoire is committed towards social responsibility and developing an inclusive culture. Much as the power of the immune system lies in the diversity of T and B cells, our work requires the creativity and ingenuity of a diverse workforce. We believe in actively pursuing equity in all facets of the work experience at Repertoire. We will continue to educate ourselves about the inequities and barriers present in our society and take action as a company where we can make a difference.
Repertoire is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
