Youth Development Director – Preschool

As the Youth Development Director – Preschool, you are a dynamic individual who comes to work with a smile and genuinely enjoys working with children, staff, parents and members. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the preschool, and the preschool summer camp, focusing on ensuring young children receive the best possible care and education. The Director is responsible for creating budgets, hiring and training staff, and encouraging a collaborative and positive workplace culture. Additional exciting duties for the Youth Development Director – Preschool include (but are not limited to):
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct leadership and coordination of all preschool related program areas, classes, and activities.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct teachers/counselors/camp staff and volunteers as needed.
- Implement, develop, maintain, or modify curriculum to meet the needs of children enrolled in the programs.
- Develop and manage department’s annual budget. Manage and implement approved budget and take appropriate action to assure revenue targets are met, and expenses are controlled.
- Prepare department schedules and complete bi-weekly payroll for Preschool and Camp staff.
- Manage preschool enrollment including admission, registration, waitlists, billing, and all other fees related to preschool classes or activities.
- All other duties related to the Youth Development Director – Preschool role deemed necessary, reasonable, and relevant.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Two years of experience as Preschool Director or similar leadership/supervisory role.
- CT Director’s credential at the standard level or equivalent educational experience.
- Working knowledge of childcare center regulations and policies.
- Demonstrated business management skills including responsibility for budgets, enrollment targets, staff management.
- Knowledge of Excel or equivalent financial software.
- Cross-functional collaborator with demonstrated ability to build relationships and engage with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of Office of Early Childhood CT licensing a plus.

- The Director is subject to all objects, apparatus or equipment used for preschool, preschool camp or program activities and functions. Some light to moderate lifting of supplies or materials may be required.
- Daily exposure to indoor/outdoor temperature/weather conditions. Frequent periods of standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching while supervising staff or assisting children.

Pay: $73,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
