Position Title: Youth Development Director
Reports To: Associate Executive Director
Supervisory Responsibility: Site Directors; Site Aides; Summer Adventure Camp Director, School Out Day Staff and Summer Adventure Staff.
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Youth Development Director develops and implements the programs of Youth Development, satellite programs, community classes, and programs that position the Knox County YMCA to serve the community.
Education: College Degree preferred or accumulated experience.
Experience: 3 or more years’ experience in management preferred; Youth Development management preferred; previous supervisory experience preferred.
Certifications/Registrations: CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter.
Physical Qualifications: This position is expected to be able to successfully perform all physical activities necessary to perform essential and related functions of the position including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position is expected to be able to perform essential and related functions of the position which can generally be described as light work.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as role model to members and YMCA staff, and at all times lives the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
- Ensures that all youth programming staff are following best practices to maintain a safe environment.
- Develops and promotes increased enrollment in new and existing youth programs, including before and after school programming, and summer programming.
- Provides accurate records and appropriate reports of usage statistics and youth programs.
- Attends and participates in the Knox County YMCA Leadership Team meetings.
- Develops and implements annual budgets for Youth Development departments, and manages agreed upon budgets within operating guidelines.
- Attends training and meetings as assigned.
- Develops and implements training and development for the Youth Development.
- Coordinates with the Maintenance Director to quickly communicate irregularities.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery.
- Prepares incident reports accurately, consistently and in accordance with established timelines. Communicate to supervisor in writing, accident and discipline situations which require corrective actions. Seek guidance from supervisor in unusual circumstances.
- Know emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
- Coordinate staff and volunteer development which includes recruitment, team building, training, evaluation, recognition, termination, etc.
- Implement character development and the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all programs and all aspects of the operations.
- Meet and exceed sustaining Annual Support campaign goals.
- Maintain a clean and safe work site; assist custodial staff as needed to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Associate Executive Director.
Expected End Results: The effectiveness of a successful Youth Development Director will be a steady growth and retention of program participants in Youth Development programs and minimizing injuries incurred in the programs and participants.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
