Founded in 1805, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is America's first school and museum of fine arts. Located in center city Philadelphia, PAFA is intimate in scale with a strong sense of community. PAFA’s undergraduate degree offerings include a BFA in Studio Art and a coordinated BFA with the University of Pennsylvania. Graduate programs include an MFA and Low-Residency MFA degree, and a Post-Baccalaureate certificate. PAFA’s museum has an outstanding collection of American art, and the museum actively collects and exhibits contemporary art, including work in new media. Additionally, PAFA is home to the Brodsky Center, a print and papermaking center focused on the creation of innovative editions by contemporary artists.

POSITION: Youth and Family Programs Manager
Youth and Family Programs (YFP) Manager leads an array of education and engagement programs for Pre-College, Youth and Teens, and Family audiences, ensuring their alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic direction. This position is part of the Museum Education and Engagement team and works closely with various community partners to support the development of programs and delivery of impactful learning experiences for teens, youth, and their families. The YFP Manager develops and directs a variety of experiences that engage with the PAFA’s museum collections, studio arts, and visual culture to foster meaningful personal, professional, and academic connections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage planning and implementation of Youth and Family education programs, including planning, promotion, and programming.
- Manage project plans, budgets, statistical and financial records.
- Manage teaching artists roster, hire, train, and supervise summer art camp staff, teaching staff, and work study students.
- Assist with the development of new programs, and in program assessment; tailoring them to meet audience’s needs.
- Collaborate with museum staff, teaching artists, and community partners to develop and implement exhibition and collection inspired Youth and Family Programs.
- Identify and cultivate new partners for the Family Programs program, promote PAFA in targeted communities through programming and relationship-building.
- Manage communications, scheduling, promotion, documentation, evaluation, and data collection for programs.
- Manage programs supplies and equipment.
- Contribute to preparation of the educational materials for special exhibition.
- Assist with other departmental duties and programs as needed, perform other duties as assigned.
