Description:
Looking for a Mid level Systems Administrator to join their IS Systems Operations team to support their entire Microsoft server infrastructure and systems. This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity. They are looking for someone who has 3+ years of Systems Admin experience supporting Microsoft server, VMware, and M365 environments.
Hybrid work schedule
•Right now 1 day a week on-site at their location in Columbia, MD
•Expected to be 2 days on-site in the near future / 3 days remote

Position Description:
The System Administrator I (SA1) is part of the Information Services Systems Operations Team(SysOps) and is primarily responsible for monitoring and maintaining our virtual, physical and cloud server/service infrastructure. Activities also include executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), requirements gathering, running reports, patching, server-side application & service installation, and the building & decommissioning of virtual servers. The SA1 is an escalation point for service requests and incidents from the Service Desk (Tier 1 & 2 support) as well as other teams within the IS Department. An SA1 will, on a daily basis, work with Active Directory, Windows Servers, Exchange, VMWare/Virtualization, Solarwinds, DFS, and more.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Demonstrates a good operational familiarity with and understanding of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems and Active Directory
•Possesses a conceptual understanding of all, if not the majority of, the technical areas that are supported by the IS Systems Operations Team :
oMicrosoft Windows Server platforms and services (DNS, DHCP, PKI, PowerShell)
oMonitoring tools (Solarwinds & SCOM)
oEnterprise Messaging (Exchange, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Lync/Skype, Office 365, Ironports/CES(Cloud))
oSystem Management (Microsoft Systems Center, SCCM, SCORCH, DynaTrace)
oVirtualization and Cloud (VMware, Citrix, Azure)
oIdentity and Access Management (Active Directory, FIM/MIM, SSO/ADFS)
oDomain Registrars, Certs, & DNS (NetSol, Digicert, SSL, PGP, SPF, A Records, TXT, TLS)
oServer and Storage hardware (Cisco UCS, Pure Storage, NetApp)
oEnterprise Backup and Disaster Recovery (Rubrik & Zerto)
oWeb Server platforms (IIS & SharePoint)
•Fulfills service requests and resolves incidents via the Service Now ticketing system.
•Monitors, investigates, and resolves events generated by the Enterprise System, Application, and Security Management tools.
•Performs daily operational health checks and maintenance tasks on critical infrastructure services and business applications to ensure their availability.
•Provide after-hours support for planned maintenance and incident resolution. We also have an on-call rotation to offer after hours support of our systems.
•Adheres to Maxim’s ITSM processes, e.g. Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, etc.
•Will be responsible for completing annual compliance to ensure proper handling of sensitive data.
•Performs other duties as assigned/necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field is preferred.
•Four to Eight (4 - 8) years of relevant IT Systems experience.
oMin. 2 years of hands on experience with the following:
Active Directory
Windows Server
Virtualization(VMWare)
•An accredited certification in one of the technical areas described above is highly desirable.
