Wildlife Animal Care Techs - Full Time

Austin Wildlife Rescue is a local non-profit that rehabilitates and releases orphaned, injured and sick native Texas wildlife. We are hiring Animal Care Techs to work starting March 5th through the end of October. Technicians work directly with a variety of native Texas wildlife, including mammals, birds and reptiles. We are hiring for both Day Shift and Night Shift staff (Full-Time and Part-Time).

Job Location

• Rehabilitation Center, Elgin, TX 78621

Full-Time Schedule

• Day shift staff are scheduled for four days a week 6am-4pm.
• Night shift staff are scheduled for four days a week 2pm-Midnight.
• Both Day and Night shift staff work every other weekend (Sat & Sun).

Part-Time Schedule

• Day shift staff are scheduled for three days a week 6am-4pm.
• Night shift staff can choose to work two or three shifts a week 2pm-Midnight.
• Both day and night part-time staff will work every other weekend (Sat & Sun).

Mandatory Training

• Four days of paid training is MANDATORY for this position and will run 8am-6pm March 5th- March 8th. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Cleaning cages
• Feeding animals
• Administering medications
• Maintaining care plans for injured animals
• Providing direction/guidance to interns and volunteers
• Assisting the public with animals they bring to our facility.
• ** This is a very physical job that requires a lot of movement and lifting.

Requirements/Preferences:

• A degree in wildlife management or related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience working with wildlife is preferred but not required.

** Rabies pre-exposure vaccines are required for this position and cost is the responsibility of the employee. The first vaccine must be obtained by March 11 & the second by March 22. NO EXCEPTIONS.
