Description
The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) has one (1) opening for a Wildland Fire Dispatch Coordinator position. This position is part time (.67 FTE)benefitted position located at the Coeur d'Alene Interagency Dispatch Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The final salary rate is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Example of Duties: Responsibilities:- Resolve a full scope of irregular problem situations encountered when performing a wide range of interrelated, nonstandard assignments pertaining to fire program management activities.
- Plan and provide critical logistical support information to the supervisor for successful implementation of fire management program activities. Make recommendations concerning the efficient use of available resources.
- Operate and/or direct the operation of various dispatch telecommunication systems
- Organize and review completed records of all orders placed and actions taken to ensure adherence to established operating procedures.
- May coordinate aviation dispatch operations. (e.g., aircraft capabilities and limitations, flight planning, aviation safety)
- Provide assistanceon problems encountered by lower-level dispatch personnel.
- Record and maintains communication logs.
- May coordinate and may assist with fire training and orientation.
- Review internal operating procedures and systems, make recommendations for improvement, and update/develop operating plans and mobilization guides.
- Follow dispatch manual instructions and review resources available to fulfill resource orders have parameters and guidelines in place.
- Work long shifts during high fire danger periods of the fire season, working weekends and holidays can be expected.
Minimum Qualifications:Experience:
- Conducting and documenting fact-finding interviews; reading, writing, and speaking English proficiently; reading and interpreting detailed information; entering and retrieving data from a computer.Typically gained by either two (2) years of work experience in developing and reviewing procedural documents or manuals, generatingreportsand maintaining database records, or six (6) months of work experience in developing and reviewing procedural documents or manuals, generating reports and maintaining database records completion AND eight credits of college coursework or equivalent training pertaining to office administration.
- Reviewing documents for compliance with established procedures; using a computer to enter and retrieve information, typically gained by two (2) years of experience where a primary responsibility of the position was performing communication and coordination services using these communication and information management tools in response to customer service requests.
- Physical ability to hear and understand messages received in person, or transmitted via radio, computer and/or telephone.
- Ability to use multi-channel radios, multi-line phones, computers, keep accurate records, and read maps.
- Experience with emergency management or WILDLAND FIRE DISPATCH, typically gained byIhave two (2) years' experience performing or supporting resource coordination, resource acquisition and communication services in support of emergency service provider organizations.
Desired Qualifications:Experience:(Typically gained from college course work and/or at least 12 months' work experience)
- Qualified as a National Interagency Incident Management System (NIIMS) Initial Attack Dispatcher (IADP) and/or Aircraft Dispatcher (ACDP).
- Experience with fire-related computer applications: IROC andWildCAD.
