Job Description
Position Title: WIC Nutritionist (CHP)

Department: Family Health

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: WIC Program Manager
Position Summary
Under the direction of the WIC Program Manager, the WIC Nutritionist is responsible for coordinating WIC program services and providing client support and guidance.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Completes assessments of client nutritional status
• Counsels clients regarding nutritional needs and requirements
• Teaches nutritional classes.
• Coordinates client scheduling and follow up
• Performs program eligibility and nutritional assessment for individual clients, includes nutritional planning, determination of supplemental food needs and provision of breastfeeding supplies.
• Conduct child development, health screenings and referrals.
• Provides individual and group education in nutrition, breastfeeding and health issues.
• Attend special events, like health fairs, to raise public awareness about the program as well as health and nutrition issues.
• Additional duties might include preparation of education materials and development of education and outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelors' of Science Degree, Food and Nutrition is required
• LDN/Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist preferred not required
• Knowledge of community resources, local and federal WIC policies and regulations
• Good verbal and written communication skills required
• Previous experience providing client support in a social service environment is desired

Part time position, 20 hours biweekly, minimum 3-hour shifts.

WIC site hours of operation; Monday-Friday 9- 5, Saturday 9 -4.
