This will be the go-to person for all things related to subsistence and whaling-related weapons, ammunition, and other related items. Some of the regular duties may include stocking inventory, taking orders on new weapons and parts, and assembling and repairing firearms and other weapons. This position reports to the Napa Manager and maintains the service schedule to ensure minimal downtime in purchasing and repairing whaling equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Maintains cleanliness and proper functioning of all whaling equipment and accessories
- Performs general inspection/repair services at the direction of the Management
- Assists customers with inquiries about whaling equipment services offered
- Assists management with advanced services as directed
- Performs cleaning on customer firearms
- Performs basic inspection/repair services on customer equipment and advanced services at the direction and with supervision from the Gunsmith
- Answers e-mail, social media, and voicemail inquiries regarding services
- Assists customers over the phone and in person with questions regarding services available, pricing, etc.
- Maintains log books of firearms waiting for service, in service, and ready for check out
- Ensures all services are priced appropriately, and parts / labor are paid for in accordance with company policy
- Seeks guidance from Management when unsure of proper technique/work process.
- Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean work environment.
- Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
- Staying current on product knowledge, general firearms laws, and safety procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to pass a Federal NICS background check to work for as a Federal Firearms Licensee employee.
- Willingness and/or ability to obtain technical/mechanical certification or gunsmith training.
- Ability to safely handle all whaling equipment when checking into or out of repair shop as well as test firing
- Great Customer Service, communication, and organizational skills, must be able to multitask.
- Strong attention to detail and an eye for perfection in work.
- Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
- High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information.
