Job description

Job Purpose:

This position performs quality control functions to assure compliance with project and Owner requirements under general supervision. Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and work is reviewed by general supervision. 

 This position is located on the North Slope of Alaska and is expected to last 6-7 weeks. Transportation between Anchorage and the North Slope is provided. Rooms and meals are provided while on the Slope.

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Will perform field inspections.
  • Maintain compliance with established project, Corporate and customer quality assurance and control requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings and track quality progress based on scope of work document.
  • Updates Quality Control files.
  • Assist in the processing of installation procedures.
  • Notifies supervisors of any discrepancies found between work completed and material installed and Owner quality requirements.
  • Performing special process and field installation inspections and surveillance of equipment and materials.
  • Attend training sessions, seminars, and appropriate educational classes as required by department.
  • Possess current knowledge of Engineering, Business Administration, quality control and organizational practices.

  • Have excellent written and oral communications applicable to standards set by organization.
  • Computer skills commensurate with program and job applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability and knowledge to interpret construction drawings, including P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of technical and safety policies, procedures, and standards applicable to industrial construction, especially welding.
  • Ability to communicate clear direction to quality inspectors, work crew leads, craft persons, project management team, and client representatives
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively with fellow workers, and demonstrate commitment to established safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to direct and motivate others in planning and scheduling work execution
  • Ability to recognize and correct gaps in the safe execution of construction work scopes
  • Ability to effectively manage and lead a team
  • Possess strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

       Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, reach through low and high ranges, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.

       Must stand throughout evaluation.

       Aerobic capacity evaluation via 3-minute step test.

       Sit and reach and range of motion evaluations.

       Lift 25 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.

       Lift 25 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.

       Carry 25 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.

  • Must be a current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificate per AWS QC1.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related mechanical field experience.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to be covered by Worley's auto insurer.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NACE/AMPP level 1 minimum coating inspector
