**This position will work out of Pasco County**
WELLNESS SPECIALIST ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in establishing one-on-one and group training sessions for caregivers on self-care practices
- Enrolls 25 caregivers and 60 children in the project
- Encourages adherence to sound nutritional and health practices
- Assists caregivers in creating Caregiver Self-Management Plan
- Coordinates volunteer participation for support groups
- Assists in creating and distributing recruitment flyers for the project
- Purchases group supplies (i.e. food, materials, etc.)
- Assists relative caregivers in linking support groups
- Helps families locate transportation and respite in order to attend support groups
- Aids in the development of group activities including scheduling guest speakers
- Reports progress and communicates regularly with Family Support Coordinators and Program Manager
- Provides quality documentation of activities and outcome measures for reporting to funders.
- Puts welcome packets, newsletters and contact lists together,
- Collects groups statistics and sign in sheets for Program Manager
- Participates in organization’s performance and quality improvement efforts.
- Other related duties as assigned.
WELLNESS SPECIALIST MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Individual has experience as a relative caregiver and successfully completed participation in a Kinship program with a minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license with no record of criminal driving offense of license suspension.
- Must possess means of providing job related transportation and show proof of required insurance. Must be insurable under CHI’s current auto insurance policy.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.
Annual Training Requirements:
The following training topics are required annually: Sexual Harassment, Blood-born Pathogens, Workplace Accident Prevention and Reporting, Confidentiality and Privacy Practices, Diversity/Cultural Competency, Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter Statutes and Methods, Prevention of Violence in the Workplace, OSHA–related training, Crisis Prevention, and Program Goals.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with families, coworkers, supervisors, and other individuals.
- Possess effective interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of agency’s organizational structure, standard operating procedures, and policies.
- Knowledge of child abuse or neglect reporting procedures and methods.
- Knowledge of infant and child development inclusive of developmentally appropriate strategies.
- Knowledge of intervention and behavior management methods, strategies, and techniques.
- Knowledge of quality documentation as required by agency standards, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to conduct assessments to develop self care plans, and to provide follow-up services.
- Ability to work as a multi-disciplinary team member in a positive productive manner.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
- Visual: ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, read printed materials, and make observations of physical facilities.
- Hearing: ability to understand and comprehend spoken dialogue in individual and group settings.
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively.
