Job Summary:
Assist in managing day to day operations of the wellnesscenter and supervising student employees.  Administrative work to include but not limited to managing dashboardnumbers, membership and locker rental files, creations of classes andactivities offered to students, faculty, staff and the community.  Assists with bi-monthly Newsletter and work withthe Wellness Center Manager on social media platform management and content(YouTube, Facebook, etc.).  Works with theDirector in planning and maintaining the annual budget for the Center.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Coordinate with the Wellness Center Manager and Director to create special programs and activities for the center.
  2. Assist, develops and present to classes and or groups concerning wellness and health related issues.
  3. Coordinate action plans for the Wellness Center Facility.
  4. Assists the Director with Wellness Wednesday Newsletter each month.
  5. Coordinate with Wellness Center Manager to create a semester schedule.
  6. Update monthly dashboard and other tracking tools in the facility.
  7. Attend and participate in management meetings and committees.
  8. Provides the demonstration, education, and assistance for clients on proper use of Wellness Center equipment as needed.
  9. Assist in weekly maintenance and upkeep of the Wellness Center and equipment.
  10. Assists the Director in the selection, training and scheduling of Wellness Center Staff and Wellness Instructors if applicable.
  11. Coordinates tours of the Wellness Center as needed.
  12. Assists with student retention efforts for the campus.
  13. Assist Campus Events as needed.
  14. Complete any mandatory or additional training plans as laid out by the Director.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold current CPR and First Aid Certification or obtain within six months of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience working in administrative setting and/or Wellness Center or fitness center. 
  • Exhibit organization and planning skills and must be flexible and adapt easily.
    Excellent communication skills.
  • Outstanding people and leadership skills.

 Work Experience:

  • Previous work experience in an office or administrative work.
  • Experience working with the public while designing and managing programs which meet the wellness needs of OSU-OKC faculty, staff, and students.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  •     Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately.
  •      Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work and communicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
  •      High degree of initiative to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
  •      Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  •      Knowledge regarding health/life style issues such as drug, alcohol, smoking cessation, nutrition etc.
  •      Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
  •      Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.

Education:

Associate Degree in Management, Exercise, Health Science,Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology or equivalent experience.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Preference in Exercise or Health Science, Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology)
  • Experience health/fitness center with classes and maintaining equipment and space. 
  • Strong background in health and fitness related programs. 
  • Experience with managing others
  • Knowledge of nutrition, and other components of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Experience in designing and implementing a wide range of health/wellness related seminars and programs.

Working Conditions:

  • Position requires individual to shift focus quickly to ensure the safety of clients using equipment and ability to mentally focus on many tasks at once.
  • Work will be performed in an environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone and via email. 
  • Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals using appropriate PPE. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Pushing, pulling and lifting of heavy equipment will occur daily.
  • Requires physical strength to demonstrate all fitness equipment, including free weights.
  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking and listening.
  • Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
