This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, YARD, Industrial Department, Structural Group, Baltimore, Maryland.

Qualifications:

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.
Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
1) Ability to do the Work of the Position without More than Normal Supervision. (SCREENOUT)
2) Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
3) Use of measuring instruments
4) Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
5) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
6) Knowledge of metals
7) Dexterity & Safety
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain welding certifications at the highest level in SMAW-steel, FCAW-steel, GMAW-steel, GTAW-Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Copper Nickel and Bronze.  Subject to high level of welding scrutiny to meet pressure testing requirements in accordance with AWS, ASME, MIL SPEC standards and along with SFLC Standards.
