We are currently adding a position for a BulkMaterial Handler in the Mill.

Job Description 

This position is responsible for Bulk Trailer and trailer management within the yard area. The Bulk Material Handler will perform trailer movement and tracking throughout the yard, along with trailer protection for safe food storage until product is used. The Bulk Material Handler will also receive shipments from bulk trailers, refer trailers, and van trailers.  Unloading and Inspection of arriving material and proper annotations completed in a timely manner in accordance with Barrett Petfood policy. Attention to detail is a must. 

Essential functions 

• Ensure correct location of Bulk Trailer as they are received, used, and loaded. 

• Load bulk trailers with flour and make ready for shipment to Little Falls plant. 

• Unload and transfer Bulk Material as directed from the Mill Lead. 

• Count, check, and annotate location and weights of bulk trailers as they are used for Milling operations. 

• Take photos of incoming shipments and document damages to receive credit on merchandise. 

• Load Bulk Material from farm bins as needed. 

• Perform various maintenance on yard tractors to ensure operations and operational safety. 

• Promptly relay information to Mill Manager, Leads, regarding problems, safety concerns or suggestions. 

• Report, document, and repair any discrepancies found within your work area. 

• Must maintain good housekeeping and safety practices. 

• Conduct quality checks to ensure quality specifications are being met. 

• Complete necessary paperwork of shift findings and tasks performed with detail. 

• Comply with safety policies, include Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO). 

• Complete all quality assurance documentation and mill parameter documentation. 

• Able to follow policies and procedures in conducting job tasks. 

• Able to work with a team and independently.

• Facilitate shift to shift communication. 

• Report all items of interest to the Mill Manager or Shift Lead and keep the best interests of Barrett Petfood at hand. 

• Must be able to use forklift and boom lift, can be trained onsite. 

• Proficient in computer skills including email. 

• Proficient in English both written and verbal

• Class A license is desired but not required. 

Hours: Weekend

• Friday, Saturday, Sunday
•  1st Shift 4am-4pm 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $25 per hour

Work Environment 

This job operates in a manufacturing warehouse environment. This role routinely uses manufacturing equipment. The environment is non-climate controlled so it can be hot or cold. Flour dust is abundant, and the environment is loud. Applicants must be able to comply with personal protective equipment on the manufacturing floor (hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, beard/hair nets, gloves, safety vest steel toed shoes).
