Water / Wastewater Section Lead/Engineer - Texas (Houston, Austin, Dallas, El Paso, San Antonio)
Wood is looking for Water/Wastewater Engineer with greater than 10 years of experience that enjoys the technical & project management aspects in W/WW detail engineering design. We are looking for a seller/doer that understands the Texas municipal and industrial W/WW market.
We are looking for someone with W/WW project experience including but not limited to preliminary analyses and studies as well as the development of plans, construction drawings, specifications, design computations, reports and construction documents. The position will be technically involved in detailed design work, detailed checking of work completed by others and coordination of civil and non-civil designs on multi-disciplinary projects. Additional responsibilities will include proposal preparation and business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- The successful candidate should be flexible in assignments, willing to travel periodically and able to recruit and develop other team members
- Leadership of projects, staff, and marketing efforts with Water / Wastewater focus for various clients and sectors
- Coordination with clients to define work programs and budgets, provide leadership and strategy including general oversight and planning and project management
- Develop treatment strategies and participate in design and implementation working sessions
- Support staff development through mentoring, recruitment and evaluation
- Develop and enhance key client relationships and would serve as a primary company contact on projects
- Full managerial responsibility for all aspects of a project including safety, scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, staff management, quality control and cash management on large projects
- Provide lead technical services and provide senior review of work performed
- Manage sales/profit, being externally/client focused, meeting or exceeding budgeted metrics, and resource management, while also ensuring the highest possible standards of integrity, safety, quality and operational excellence
- Develop and manage proposal efforts, business strategies, and lead in contract negotiations including but not limited to terms & conditions, scope, and budget
- Effectively convey proposed work efforts and project results in technical documents, interviews, and oral presentations
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Support Texas marketing initiatives for municipal and industrial W/WW
- BS Degree in civil, chemical, or similar engineering, MS Degree preferred
- >10 years of engineering experience related to water and wastewater infrastructure design including water distribution systems, sewage collection systems, facility design, treatment systems and plants, odor control measures and construction phase services
- Professional Engineer Certification - Texas
- Experience in detailed design and hydraulic analysis of water distribution systems, gravity sewers, reservoirs, pump stations, force mains and effluent re-use systems
- Experienced in preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred
- Staff management and leadership ability
- Has Established Texas Relationships
- Experience with Large Proposal Efforts
- Good technical writing and communication skills
- Must pass a drug screen, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
