Sustainability Business Development Director

Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer

Position Type: Full Time

Location: Remote | Johnston, IA office as needed

Travel Required: Yes; ability to travel as required by role (up to 25% of the time)

Primary Purpose & Function

Drive the development and implementation of Growers Edge strategic plan around Sustainability including data gathering, analysis, research, and cross-functional collaboration.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with overall company and product objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on sustainability initiatives.
• Establish strategic corporate and academic partnerships focused on sustainability.
• Drive utilization of all existing products and propose new products to support industry sustainability needs.
• Gather, analyze and interpret sustainability data to drive implementation of sustainability initiatives across all products.
• Facilitate day to day project management of sustainability initiatives by fostering collaboration across multiple functions of the company.
• Communicate sustainability policies and objects to internal and external audiences.
• Identify sustainability grant opportunities; working to secure grant funding in the sustainability space.
• Understand emerging trends, technologies and best practices in sustainable agriculture.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and optimization for sustainability across all Products.
• Develop, maintain and apply relevant industry-leading expertise across all Products.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including current and potential customers.
• Lead cross-selling strategy of Crop Plan and Input Lending products with a Sustainability focus.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, agriculture or other relevant field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in sustainability management, preferably in agriculture industry.
• Strong understanding of sustainable agriculture practices.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting with experience using sustainability metrics and tools.
• Proven project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for environmental stewardship and a commitment to promoting sustainability within the agriculture industry.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including developing and editing written materials.
• Experience in securing grant funding.
• Ability to work well in cross-functional team settings.
• Positive and helpful attitude; approachable by all stakeholders.

Travel

• Ability to travel for various periods of time as necessary

• Oral communication over the phone, and in person
• Spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle and eye strain.
