Job Description
As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will maintain compliance with NPDES and local permit requirements to discharge wastewater.
Areas of Responsibilities:
- Maintain records and date for entire water & Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Perform required calibrations of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain required calibration logs.
- Enter data into computer files, and file paper copies of bench sheets.
- Summarize, complete, and file State and local monthly DMR reports.
- Perform PADEP and Borough required laboratory testing of inhouse parameters.
- Obtain required wastewater and water samples for local and state permits adhering to proper sampling protocol.
- Liaison with testing labs for outsourced testing parameters of water and wastewater.
- Maintain inventory of chemicals, tools, and etc. that are used within the WWTP and well water system.
- Ensure materials needed for daily use are available and operational.
- Maintain cost control of materials to stay within budget.
- Maintain a professional relationship with State and Local agencies.
- Develop and maintain confidence of agencies in dealings.
- Observe and report conditions that affect the WWTP and well water system daily operations.
- Inform and report conditions that could affect permit compliance to plant management.
- Provide information and plans for corrective action for adverse conditions.
Education and Experience:
Education:
- HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED
- ADVANCED SCHOOLING
Preferred:
- General Laboratory Skills (1-2 years)
- Wastewater Plant Operations (2 + years)
- General Computer Skills (1-2 years)
Required:
- State Certified for a minimum of a Class C Water License with Chlorine Gas.
- Operator needs to obtain WWTP license within one year of starting position.
