Warehouse Technician

JOB SUMMARY

Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes, and processes medical equipment for distribution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Dispose of soiled or contaminated supplies per infection control policies.
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment in a timely manner.
  • Follow all infection-control procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling contaminated or potentially contaminated equipment and/or supplies.
  • Follow all disinfectant/sterilizing agent manufacturers’ use instructions and safety precautions.
  • Keep cleaning area free from contamination and in compliance with infection control policies and/or procedures.
  • Properly mark and cover cleaned equipment.
  • Mix cleaning solutions and diluted acids per manufacturers’ label instructions.
  • Assist Delivery Drivers, when necessary, in preparing, loading and unloading trucks/vans.
  • Document all cleaning/disinfection work on appropriate forms and keep all documentation in an orderly manner.
  • Maintain the cleaning, service, and maintenance of all dirty equipment.
  • Assist in all unloading of dirty equipment into the designated area every morning.
  • Communicate with customer service about any rental equipment returns.
  • Ensure all equipment in dirty area is completely processed appropriately every day.
  • Ensure all warehouse floors are swept and mopped every day.
  • Complete all required education, certification, and competency testing.
  • Complete oxygen refill procedures and document and log properly according to procedure.
  • Report all low equipment stock to warehouse supervisor.
  • Review emergency procedure policy annually.
  • Always remember to protect the patients' information when in the field and on the phone.
  • Always wear the proper safety equipment and PPE according to procedure.
  • Use proper body mechanics when lifting all equipment.
  • Perform cleaning, 10-minute germicidal spray, and electrical testing on all equipment.
  • Clean and organize dirty areas at all times.
  • Wash and dry all dirty rags every day.
  • Ensure that all serviced equipment is properly documented into Hospice Cloud Pro every day.
  • Clean all mattresses with cleaning solution, spray with Microban, replace yellow tag, and log appropriately.
  • Chemicals must never be combined and always follow the manufacturers' instructions.
  • Perform functional checks on cleaned equipment.
  • Participate in Improvement of Operational Performance (IOP) activities.
  • Participate in traditional and e-learning programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively with other company employees, managers, and departments.
  • Perform all job functions with Company Mission and Family Standard in mind.
Requirements:

Education, Certificate, and Licensure

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three months related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. No professional certificate or licensure required, although preferred.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate proficient ability and practical knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes applicable to the industry. Applicant must also have a clean state criminal background and federal sex offender check, clean drug test, valid driver’s license and pass a driving skill test. Additionally, the applicant is expected to demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of departmental program structure (Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements) and department policies and procedures. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as needed, and have the ability to demonstrate effective time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision.

Math Ability

  • Must demonstrate proficient ability to apply mathematical concepts to such tasks as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Supervisory Requirements

  • This job has no supervisory requirements or authority.

Language and Communication Ability

  • Must demonstrate proficient ability to foster professional working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills organization-wide. Applicant must demonstrate the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations and effectively present and debate any assortment of information relevant to their area of expertise and designated responsibilities and duties with members of the Company and on behalf of the Company when appropriate. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Physical Demands

  • Must demonstrate the ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, which may include but is not limited to: computers, fax and copy machines, and other office supplies. Requires stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone; manual dexterity to perform job functions and stamina to frequently sit for extended periods of time. Additionally, the employee is occasionally required to walk and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Reasoning Ability

  • Must demonstrate proficient ability to understand, interpret, and apply an extensive array of complex mathematical instruction and information through analytical collection of factual data to produce logical solutions and/or conclusions where only limited standardization exists.

Technology Skills

  • Must demonstrate proficient personal computer use and knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and inventory software. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to quickly and proficiently learn to use company specific software programs and any other handheld or technology tools as required for completing job tasks.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency and productivity in a fast paced environment with unscheduled interruptions while maintaining acceptable judgment, responsibility, and assumption for decisions, consequences, and results. Applicant must demonstrate good organization, time management, and communication skills. Occasionally an adjusted work schedule is required to accommodate company needs.
