Position Summary:
Provides an intermediate level of expertise in performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Must be proficient in all aspects of mechanical troubleshooting and repair requirements. Responsible for the good condition and functionality of the premises.
Essential Functions:
All levels
- Follows Standard Work Instructions provided for the assigned department.
- Follows ISO and GMP guidelines.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on all production equipment by referring to manuals and manufacturer’s recommendations and work instructions.
- Repairs and rebuilds all production equipment as needed.
- Tracks labor hours on the job duty.
- Works in confined spaces as required using all required PPE and strictly following all safety rules and regulations and requirements.
- Performs LOTO (Lock out tag out), isolate and verify, fills out paperwork as needed to ensure safe repairs on all equipment before starting work.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment.
- Reports all safety and environmental concerns when issues are found and take steps to eliminate or mitigate when necessary to insure a safe working environment.
- Performs maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets).
- Works with production personnel to troubleshoot all issues that affect production.
- Conducts general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.)
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Level 2-4
- Surveys buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards.
- Performs maintenance of electrical systems (clean and repair circuit breaker panels etc.).
- Assists in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Documentation required in work order system.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Maintains heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
Level 3-4
- Undertakes activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide.
- Forklift and spot truck maintenance.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts such as measuring instruments and tools.
- Controls downtime by working with site leaderships to work on equipment when not needed by production when possible.
Level 4
- Assists in budget preparation and ensure it is followed.
- Provides client-focused customer service and maintenance service to clients.
- Inspects alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Performs maintenance of electrical systems (clean and repair electrical operations etc.).
Requirements:
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; Certification in building maintenance, welding, program technology or relevant field is preferred for level 2-4. Additional technical school education preferred for level 3 and 4.
- Level 1: 0-1 years of maintenance or mechanical experience preferred.
- Level 2: 3-5 years of maintenance or mechanical experience OR experience in multiple different manufacturing departments.
- Level 3: 5-10 years of maintenance or mechanical experience OR experience in multiple manufacturing environments and applicable certifications.
- Level 4: 10+ years of maintenance or mechanical experience OR a certified electrician, experience in program logic control. Experience in different welding operations and program logic control (PLC). Able to read engineering schematics and provide solutions.
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving, analytical, and mathematical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and internet.
- Teamwork oriented, but can work independently, taking initiative to complete tasks without constant oversight.
- Strong oral written communication skills in English.
- The associate must know and follow proper office and GMP safety protocols; know and follow Company’s grooming, hygiene and dress code policies including appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE) for safety compliance.
- Able to work in fast paced environment.
Work Environment:
- The employee is frequently exposed to moving machinery.
- The job requires lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds as well as reaching, standing, sitting, and walking.
- This job requires working in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse (indoor temperature fluctuates through each season).
- This job requires standing and walking for long periods of time and may perform tasks at heights.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- This job will occasionally require working in confined spaces.
- Maintenance personnel are considered essential staff which requires them to report to work in all emergencies to assist as needed.
