Job Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of warehouse activities including shipping and receiving materials and/or finished goods, maintaining inventory accuracy, completing and filing required documents for record keeping, and equipment records. People management responsibilities include training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals for hourly warehouse employees, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. Daily focus on safety policy and procedure compliance. All work must be directed to ensure that safety, quality, and cost metrics meet management and business objectives.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Supervises forklift lead, operators and warehouse clerks in warehouse activities.
- Supervises and assists in daily tasks including: filling and shipping orders, ensuring accuracy of shipments and supporting documentation, receiving material and routing to appropriate area or personnel, and providing production support as needed.
- Measuring and reporting the effectiveness of department activities, providing daily summaries and status reports
- Enforce company rules regarding safety, discipline, cooperation and teamwork.
- Coaching, training, mentoring and developing team members to meet current and future business requirements.
- Responsible for annual training of forklift operators after completing a train the trainer certification class
- Facilitating seamless handoffs between shifts and communicating key information to peers, team members and management.
- Understanding internal and external client systems reporting requirements to ensure timely compliance of transactions.
- Scheduling direct reports in response to rapidly changing product mix and seasonal demand.
- Assuring that correct items are on hand and stored properly for daily production requirements.
- Coordinating Conferring with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and serving internal customers.
- Attend all food safety training sessions (GMP, SQF, HACCP, Allergen, Food Facility Security, Preventing Foodborne Illness)
- Participate in company GMP walks
- Regularly inspect warehouse and facility for compliance
- Enforce company rules regarding food safety and monitoring
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of conventional management and warehouse fundamentals including working knowledge of a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- ERP software experience
- Inventory Management experience including Cycle Counting management preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel)
- Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
- SQF / Food Safety Knowledge highly desired
- Sit-down and/or Reach Forklift experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree or five years of warehouse experience with two or more years of experience in a leadership role.
Working Conditions:
- Office setting and warehouse environment with temperature range of 55 – 80 degrees
- This position may require the employee to be on-call at times to respond to emergencies.
- Ability to work weekends or shifts other than their own to meet the needs of the business.
