Warehouse Management System Specialist

Fulfillment Strategies International (FSI), a leading provider of product fulfillment and distribution services, is creating a new position for an experienced WMS Specialist. The successful candidate will gain a detailed understanding of our applications and business processes, as well as take charge in maintaining the company’s Warehouse Management System. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual to use their technical writing and training skills over a diverse range of projects in a fast-paced, challenging environment. FSI is growing, and as the complexity of our business also grows we must create a more formal set of documentation for our processes. With documentation in hand, we’ll offer targeted, ongoing training to ensure end users remain aware of the documentation and remain in compliance with approved procedures. Generally, training will be very informal (one on one or in small groups) with the primary goal of making sure employees know how to do their jobs and that they follow procedures consistently. The candidate will work carefully with all departments to document many different types of processes within the WMS. Experience with Deposco is a plus.

Together we will:

• Learn all aspects of the Warehouse Management System.
• Be the go-to person company wide for any and all things in regards to the Warehouse Management System.
• Create and implement a robust documentation plan.
• Help encourage a better culture of knowledge management and retention of proper procedures.
• Use critical thinking skills to suggest better and more effective ways to create and manage content.
• Responsible for the efficient transmission of information and the storage and analysis of information by means of computer networks and systems, the Internet, and computer databases.
• Will train associates on updated SOP’s, WMS programs, and RF guns.
• Will test and coordinate modifications to the system when needed, and troubleshoot problems when they occur.
• Maintains system efficiency.
• Will ensure the site’s computer system allows all the components, including computers, the network, and software, to work properly together.
• May be required to be on call outside of normal business hours in order to resolve system failures or other problems.
• Effectively communicates relevant IT-related information to site management and client management (as appropriate).
• Will work with corporate IT to resolve complex issues.
• Will produce regular reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Will rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
• Sets goals to provide continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 3-4 years experience implementing and maintaining Warehouse Management Systems.
• A minimum of 3-4 years of technical writing, training, and/or IT experience is required; this is not an entry-level position.
• The ability to speak very clearly and be comfortable conversing with both technical staff and end users is critical.
• Be technically minded, with prior experience in an IT or other technical department preferred.
• Be comfortable training end users one on one, and working with end users to identify better processes.
• Ability to learn our in-house software applications, work with our developers, and write detailed documentation.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
• Ability to create flow charts and data flow diagrams.
• Be confident in producing concise documentation that is easily understood by end users. •Strong attention to detail.
• A history of self-directed success, working with enthusiasm and motivation.
• Comfortable using PowerPoint to deliver presentations in front of a small to mid-sized group. Most of the training will be one on one or in small groups and specific to a particular process or app. Training in larger, corporate settings is anticipated to be infrequent.

***This position primarily requires onsite presence. Please note that telecommuting generally will not be possible, and this is a full-time position.

Additional Skills:

• Prior experience with at least one help authoring or XML authoring tool is a plus.
• FSI uses Microsoft Office for business productivity. Familiarity with other Microsoft products and technologies such as Azure is a plus.

Education and Related Experience:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred.
