Position Summary :

Detroit Public Schools Community District owns and operates a 218,900 square foot warehouse facility that stores furniture, curricular materials, commercial kitchen equipment and other student instructional tools. We are currently looking to fill the position of Warehouse Logistics Operator to handle daily operations of this facility, including freight, receiving, returns and transfers. This facility also handles the District's inter-office mail delivery to its schools and administrative offices. The successful applicant will maintain high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations and provide responsive and efficient customer service to within our District.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma required.

Experience:

• Must provide evidence of a minimum of two (2) years processing orders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must be willing to work overtime as needed to meet business needs

• Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions

• Detail oriented with strong follow-through; able to read and type numbers accurately

• Basic math and computer skills

• Self-motivated and team oriented; works harmoniously and effectively with others

• Clean area attire must be worn

• Able to demonstrate follow-through on work assignments

• Able to work well under pressure

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for a long period of time, alternating between sitting and standing

• Frequently perform the following: reach with both arms; twisting/turning; bending; kneeling; squatting; pushing; pulling; lifting; carrying; climbing ladders

• Lifting: Frequently lift and carry 11 to 20 lbs. Occasionally lift and carry 21 to 50lbs.; Team lifting above 50 lbs. as need

Essential Functions:

• Repackaging or labeling products

• Inspect product and verify consistency or verify order contents

• Pick orders for distribution

• Collect inventory from schools and administrative buildings, when necessary

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Operations Manager

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
