Job Description: Volunteer & Events Manager
The primary goal of this role is to manage the resources and opportunities (both human and otherwise) MZar needs to continue the successful operation of our 501c3 nonprofit mission of Motley Zoo which Animal Rescue (www.motleyzoo.org) which is to rescue, rehome, rehabilitate animals. As well, the role includes engaging with the community to create/ support events, education, resources and opportunities for growth, development, relationship building and fundraising.
Motley Zoo believes all animals are precious and more valuable than the number at the bottom of a veterinary bill.
We are committed to the animals and meeting their individual needs to facilitate their adoption, which includes breaking down barriers such as medical, behavioral, and training challenges to make the animal more adoptable to new families.

As well, the ideal candidate is self-motivated, exemplifies leadership qualities and has at least 3 years’ experience managing a team of 3+ people/ volunteers as well as proven performance in planning/ implementing events and development strategies.

>>>This role involves approximately 60-70% in person work (will vary) and 30-40% work from home. There is no option for the role to become solely work from home at any time.
>>>This position can be part-time to start, but will require full-time hours eventually, which includes some evenings, weekends, holidays as the schedule may dictate. We are willing to accommodate a transition period of up to 6mo, but will need full-time support by then.

Duties and Responsibilities (summary of entire job description)
- Primary point of contact overseeing the volunteer program which includes but is not limited to:
-Fielding volunteer applications, email management and onboarding processes
-Cross-training/ filling in as needed support in kennels to understand mission operations, systems, and processes to utilize in training new staff/ volunteers
-Scheduling/ coordination
-Coordinate and apply volunteers' interest/ skills with mission opportunities
-Develop volunteer program through concerted/ definitive recruitment, growth path and support efforts
-Work with leadership on creation,adaptation and implementation of systems, processes and policies
-Create and implement volunteer newsletter
-Manages milestones/ volunteer appreciation efforts including birthday, anniversaries, games, prizes and gifts
- Coordinate and manage event and fundraising efforts including but not limited to: -Scheduling, staffing, attending events
-Coordinate/ implement photo/ video support and documentation; manage assets
-Coordinate to ensure timely advertising/ marketing and follow up coverage/ thank -yous of events
-Maintains data to assess event effectiveness/ ROI to determine and implement planning/ strategy
-Develops, maintains and supports corporate/ community partnerships, sponsorships and affiliates to maximize/ leverage support and revenue
-Create and implement revenue/ fundraising initiatives/ campaigns; branding/ marketing support

Qualifications
- Minimum 3yrs experience in volunteer management or comparable equivalent such as general management/ operations experience and or qualified/ in depth volunteer experience in animal welfare or other nonprofit
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in and outdoors (variable weather) on uneven surfaces such as gravel, grass, hills, wood chips and dirt, which includes moving between multiple locations, carry/ lift items up to 30lbs and be on the go frequently
- Possess time management skills to determine how to accomplish the workload within parameters of projects/ tasks
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, problem solve and follow through on tasks, duties and projects as well as support other team members in their efforts
- Work cohesively and cooperatively with a team of people of varying skills, experience levels and personalities in a healthy, supportive and productive manner that upholds MZar’s culture
- Ability to self-manage by prioritizing tasks, managing time efficiently, follow directions and being accountable for individual and team work performance
- Ability to take initiative which includes identifying and seeking career growth opportunities that "take the next step" and challenge current skills and experience (ie training beyond your role)
- Ability to maintain a good attitude and work ethic
- Ability to use technology such as general computer literacy, willingness to learn and utilize programs and tools, commitment to consistent implementation of use of tools/ tech

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
