Volunteer Coordinator

OVERVIEW: 

While working in direct support of the overall ministries of the Salinas Corps Community Center, the Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for volunteer recruitment and management. This job description should not be considered all-inclusive as there may be other tasks, limited in scope, assigned to support other Salinas Corps programs.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the recruiting of volunteers
• Develop volunteers for annual seasonal fundraising and community assistance
• Develop and maintain relationships with area school personnel for recruiting volunteers
• Initiate and conduct at least 2 speaking engagements quarterly to area businesses, organizations, and social groups regarding volunteering with The Salvation Army
• Recruit volunteers who can lead various weekly recreational, educational/tutoring, and STEM activities for Kids Café
• Maintain complete and up-to-date volunteer files and records
• Utilize volunteer software to schedule and report hours
• Main point of contact for the Salinas Corps regarding Child and Vulnerable Adult Safety implementation and training
• Provide timely acknowledgments to volunteers after they complete their commitment.
• Responsible for onboarding of all adult and youth volunteers
• Oversee training requirements for current volunteers
• Plan and conduct an Annual Volunteer Appreciation luncheon
• Utilize social media to recruit volunteers and highlight volunteer activity
• Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
• CA Driver's license (Required)
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Maintain Monterey County Food Handlers Certification
• Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification

 SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to multi-task
• Team Player
• Great communication skills

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
