Job description

If you're a videographer at the city of Goodyear, you are passionate about using video to tell a story, excited to learn new video techniques and not afraid to tap into a mix of equipment to get the most creative shots for your shoot. You must be a self-starter and comfortable with juggling multiple projects at a time. This means thoughtfully managing projects with varying deadlines from start to finish.

The videos produced in this role will be shared on a variety of platforms, including social media, the website, internally with employees and externally with news media. The ideal candidate thrives on working in a collaborative team environment and likes receiving regular feedback. There are increasing opportunities to tell the story at one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation.

Shooting/Editing:

You know your way around a professional-grade camera and how to quickly move between various manual settings depending on what environment you're shooting in. You also know what equipment needs you have depending on the shoot and are experienced in setting up lights, using live equipment for social media, Osmos, GoPros, DSLR cameras, microphones and more. You also have a passion for editing, and can do so on Adobe Premiere, and that's where your vision comes to life. Continuing the creative process while editing is a must - a desire to elevate your video and make it pop. You also understand how to shoot and edit on a phone under deadline for the various online platforms.

Producer:

Your role would include taking the initiative to find unique story ideas and execute them. You're not afraid to direct and manage interview subjects, including those in leadership positions, to ensure authenticity. You know how to engage with your on-camera subjects to make them comfortable and what kinds of interview questions to ask to get what you need, all while managing equipment.

Idea Generator:

The ideal candidate will help come up with creative video content ideas on a weekly basis and execute quickly. Developing unique content will be part of your daily thought process, and you'll be expected to work with the team to execute campaigns through multiple communication channels.

Communication:

Being able to communicate well with your teammates, city management and elected officials is imperative. The ideal candidate understands the importance of being responsive on a daily basis with emails and communication, in general. Being able to respond to social media comments appropriately and with good written communication skills is a plus.

Experience/Misc.:

Having a bachelor's degree in videography or a related field is preferred. A minimum of two years as a professional videographer is required.

Schedule flexibility is important. Working outside of business hours may at times be required. This position reports to the Lead Videographer. Regular telecommuting may be an option after employee successfully completes probationary period.

At the City of Goodyear, you will be a part of an organization that values its employees as its greatest asset. You will become part of a dedicated team of professionals that are committed to build and maintain a highly engaged workforce. You will be challenged to learn and grow in an environment that values employee development and career-building. You will thrive in a culture of innovation. We believe that successful employees are those that possess these six core values:

Adaptability - Integrity - Initiative - Empathy - Optimism - Innovation

Only a limited number of the most qualified applicants meeting the City's requirements will be invited for an interview. The examination process for this position will consist of a panel interview. All communication regarding application status and interview notifications will be sent via email- please monitor your junk/spam email for communication as it will come from a system generated source.
