Vice President/CIO
The Vice President/Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a top executive in the organization with a proven track record as an executive. The incumbent has ultimate responsibility for information systems and functions within Southwest General Health Center and serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. He/she is responsible for all operations of the organization's computer systems, networks, programs, infrastructure, help-desk support, databases, and setting overall information technology strategic direction.
The CIO will lead design of clinical information workflow models with physician, nursing, and administrative leadership, and assist in the modification of these models to gain maximum efficacy and support for patient care, teaching, and research. Analyzes CMS requirements in collaboration with the quality department to develop strategies to capture clinical data. Identifies opportunities to increase patient safety and decrease costs.
Provides leadership and participate in governance in the areas of planning, development, preparation (Training) and implementation (Support) of strategic and tactical clinical information systems. He/She is the clinical point of contact for the integration of existing and future specialty clinical IT systems. This may include but not limited to: core clinical systems, physician order entry, clinical training, documentation, PACS, Laboratory Information System, Anesthesia systems and decision support etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree with commensurate executive level experience
- Advanced degree is highly preferred
REQUIRED LENGTH AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership role in a hospital or hospital system with focus on Information Technology
- Strong project management and performance measurement; detail-oriented with ability to oversee many projects from origin to execution
- Must be able to provide strategic leadership, work with all levels of stakeholders and provide the best outcomes possible
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contributes to the planning and maintenance of the organization's data technology operations, including computer hardware, software, and telecommunication.
- Participates in the evaluation, development, and recommendation of solutions specific that will positively impact the organization's operations.
- Develops policies governing information security and business continuance.
- Monitors the needs of the organization technology and collaborates with senior leadership team to ensure technological needs of the organization are being met.
- Works with senior leadership team to develop technology plans, policies, and procedures in alignment with hospital goals and standards.
- Establishes short- and long-term strategies related to the organization's information management and processing systems, including computers and peripherals, hardware, software, or networks.
- Strong project management and performance measurement; detail-oriented with ability to oversee many projects from origin to execution.
- Identifies opportunities to increase patient safety and decrease costs.
