Job Summary
We are seeking a licensed and/or retired teacher with extensive experience teaching Elementary and Middle School Science to join our education consulting firm as an Education Consultant specializing in Student Workshops.
In this role, you will utilize your expertise to design and deliver captivating and interactive workshops that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of science concepts among students in grades K-8. The ideal candidate will have a passion for science education, a creative approach to curriculum design, and experience working directly with students in workshop settings.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging and hands-on workshops covering a wide range of Elementary and Middle School Science topics, including life science, physical science, earth science, and engineering.
- Design age-appropriate activities, experiments, and projects that align with curriculum standards and promote inquiry-based learning, problem-solving, and scientific literacy.
- Facilitate workshops in-person or virtually, employing a variety of instructional strategies to engage and motivate students.
- Provide clear explanations of scientific concepts and guide students through the scientific process, encouraging exploration and discovery.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, make predictions, and draw conclusions based on evidence.
- Integrate technology tools, multimedia resources, and real-world examples to enhance workshop content and relevance.
- Assess student understanding and progress through formative and summative assessments, offering constructive feedback to support ongoing learning, when necessary.
- Stay abreast of developments in science education, including new research, resources, and instructional strategies, to inform workshop design and delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching license or certification in Elementary and/or Middle School Science.
- Background in teaching science in Elementary and/or Middle School classrooms (min. 5 years).
- Strong understanding of science content and pedagogy, with a focus on inquiry-based and experiential learning.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students of varying ages and abilities.
- Creativity and innovation in designing hands-on, interactive learning experiences for diverse student populations.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual learners and create an inclusive learning environment.
- Experience in workshop facilitation or teaching in informal education settings is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in technology tools for virtual instruction and workshop delivery.
Schedule:
Flexible schedule with workshops scheduled during weekdays and occasional weekends.
