About the Position:
The position of Vice President of Specialty Credits& Lending will actively manage Watch List credits (Watch grade credits, Criticized and Classified credits), REO, and credits that show early signs of stress (past due, OD checking account, non-compliant with covenants). The position will also underwrite and structure specialty, large, and/or complex credits. The position may co-manage these credits with a Relationship Manager.
Essential Duties:
Specialty Credit Responsibilities:
- Negotiates workout agreements with problem borrowers.
- Collects delinquent, non-performing and charged-off loans working directly or through a collection agency.
- Oversees non-performing loan portfolio.
- Works closely with legal counsel to expeditiously resolve litigation while minimizing legal and collection expenses.
- Manages REO properties from acquisition to disposition.
- Generates and updates Problem Asset Reports including confirming grade and suggests upgrade and down grade triggers.
- Identifies Modified loans and impaired loans per accounting principles and generates Impairment Analysis as needed.
Specialty Lending Responsibilities:
- Underwrites and structures large, complex, and/or specialty lending requests.
- May underwrite and structure loan referrals from Bank's Board and Executive Officers.
- Requests financial data from borrowers based on the borrower's financial reporting covenants and other data as may be needed to fully understand a borrower's financial condition.
- Analyzes Borrower's financial data and prepare summary reports on the Borrower's financial condition and compliance with loan covenants.
- Compiles data from credit reports, conducts industry analysis, and generates peer comparisons.
- Collaborates with Relationship Managers and customers to discuss financial data and develop a thorough understanding of the creditworthiness of the Borrower and Guarantor. Understands and explains significant changes over time, compares to industry standards, discusses performance to covenants, etc.
- Consistently underwrites safe and sound commercial loans in an expedient manner that are compliant with the Bank's underwriting standards and all applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Carefully assesses and evaluates the risk of financing requests within the framework of the Bank's credit culture, current economic trends, and industry trends. Presents facts and offers opinions/recommendations on applicant's credit worthiness.
- Prepares summary and/or credit approval report documenting underwriting results and provides supporting information for credit decision recommendations.
- Makes recommendations on potential customer needs for other banking products.
- May Review and critique credit presentations for deal structure and underwriting fundamentals. Provides feedback to Credit Analysts, Underwriters and Relationship Managers.
- May provide training to Credit Analysts and Underwriters, i.e. mentorship.
- Acts as a resource for Credit Analysts and Underwriters in answering questions or assisting them in structuring a loan transaction or underwriting a credit request.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a 4-year accredited college or university in Business, Finance, Accounting, or similar study preferred.
- 10 + years of banking or comparable experience.
- 10 + years of special asset management experience.
- 10 + years of managing/underwriting and adjudicating credit decisions.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial loan origination, underwriting, documentation, and processing.
- Advanced knowledge of how to analyze and interpret Financial Statement and UCA Cash Flow.
- Strong written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in forming an opinion on prospective credits and explain decisions to front line staff.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, various credit reporting and industry data services, LOS systems such as Abrigo Sageworks, Moody's, Baker Hill, or similar system.
- Strong experience with revising and developing credit policies and procedures.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
- Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
Salary Description
$120,000-$180,000
