GBFB is considered an essential response organization in times of disaster. As such, Team Members are expected to report to GBFB locations as required, after securing the safety of their families, and may be asked to perform duties that are critical (but outside of their regularly assigned duties) in times of disaster.


Job Title: Vice President of Philanthropic Partnerships

Reports to: Executive Vice President, Advancement


Position Summary Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Advancement, the Vice President (VP) of Philanthropic Partnerships will lead and manage the creation and implementation of a comprehensive major gift fundraising and sponsorships program to identify, cultivate and secure new individual, corporate and foundation financial support; create and implement a comprehensive planned giving program; and lead the Advancement Operations, Donor Engagement and Special Events teams. The Vice President works closely with the President and CEO, Executive Vice President of Advancement, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President of Human Resources and AdministrationSenior Leadership Team and provides a high-level of internal and external leadership on behalf of the GBFB.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead, build, manage, support and mentor a best-practice fundraising team of approximately 20 FTE with a joyful, results-oriented work culture and outstanding results.
  • Develop annual and multi-year fundraising goals, strategies and tactics in support of all facets of fundraising and sponsorships from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Oversee the annual and multi-year solicitations of members of the Board of Directors, Council of Advisors and other volunteer leaders. Directly or indirectly manage committees of the Council of Advisors to advance multi-year fundraising plan and goals.
  • Works directly with and enables team members to collaborate with the Board of Directors and Council of Advisors to create bespoke cultivation and solicitation strategies for targeted individuals, corporations and foundations.
  • Serve as the Relationship Manager for a portfolio of approximately 25 – 40 prospective and current major gift donors.
  • Build and manage a robust infrastructure to support fundraising including the Salesforce database, policies, gift administration, donor research, relationship management, donor recognition and prospective donor engagement.
  • Partners with the Vice President of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs and the Director of Direct Marketing on complementary and distinct fundraising strategies for current and prospective major donors within the Direct Marketing solicitation pool including on stewardship, recognition and cultivation of those donors.
  • Leads the creation of planned giving and endowment solicitation programs including policies and procedures, staff training, and donor stewardship and recognition.
  • Oversees the development of a multi-year revenue generating event program.
  • If appropriate, play a leading role in the development of the goals, strategies and tactics of a fundraising campaign.
  • Align the fundraising team with team members from other departments including community impact, strategy/technology, finance, food team, volunteers, to create a culture of philanthropy to support fundraising and sponsorship efforts.
  • Publicly represent GBFB through internal and external engagement opportunities.
  • Actively participate on the Senior Leader Team. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • 15 or more years of progressive fundraising and management experience.
  • Experience leading a highly effective team of 10 or more toward outstanding results.
  • Demonstrated ability to raise five, six and seven figure gifts from individual, corporations and/or foundations.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and an ability to speak persuasively about the organization.
  • Highly organized with ability to successfully multi-task and meet deadlines, especially working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven history of successfully working in highly collaborative and matrixed organizational environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills including coaching, mentoring team building, collaboration, and conflict management in a diplomatic and professional manner.
  • Superb customer service skills, excellent written and verbal communications, public speaking, and willingness to travel, and ability to work with donors.
  • Willingness to work with other teams, food bank partners/colleagues in the Feeding America network.
  • Ability to support donor analytics to drive donor engagement, retention, and performance.
  • Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.
  • Experience in building and maintaining budgets.
  • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support events.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to donors, events, other food banks.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in an office environment along with a remote environment.
  • Ability to sit for up to 3 hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
Work Environment
  • This job is performed indoors in an office setting or at a home office or visiting a donor or at an event.
  • This role follows a hybrid schedule working in accordance with GBFB’s hybrid work policy. Our in-office time is used primarily for team meetings and formal and informal collaboration necessary to foster and support a positive work culture. This schedule is subject to change based on the organization’s mission to end hunger.
