The VP of Finance and Operations – Americas is responsible for the development and execution of financial tracking and reporting as well as the implementation of optimization plans and strategies which deliver enhanced profitability and resource utilization, pace for revenue recognition, and best in class overall customer experience throughout the Order to Cash process. This individual is expected to be capable, and willing, to serve as a hands-on leader who works side by side with colleagues completing day-to-day activities as well as at a strategic leadership level.
 

The VP of Finance and Operations is a process-based strategist who thrives in matrixed, multi-Business Unit, global environments where they drive continuous improvement at a rapid pace. He he/she works in a transparent manor via the ability to communicate a clear vision for the future with a milestone-based implementation plan. This individual is capable of leading his/her team through both periods of stability and change as well as inspiring leadership from other departments to follow.  
 

The VP of Finance and Operations will have direct oversight of Finance, Materials Management, and Sales/Service Admin and strong working relationship with regional Legal, Sales, Service, and Marketing Leadership as well as global team members As a member of the Oxford Instruments, Americas senior leadership team, the VP of Finance and Operation participates in various short- and long-term projects which span the broader organization regionally and, if required, globally while fully embraces the OI core values. Additionally, he/she will travel as needed, including internationally, to attend various meetings and corporate events.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dynamic leadership for the team comprising Finance, Materials Management (Logistics), and Sales/Service Administration.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal skills to leverage his/her sphere of influence with direct reports and colleagues to advance projects and improvement initiatives.
  • Inspire team members to perform at the highest level and empower them to make process improvements which remove unnecessary complexity and increase profitability.
  • Development and execution of strategic business plans which produce rapid and sustainable growth as well as efficiency improvements and optimization where required.
  • Communicate a clear financial direction, action items, and strategic initiatives throughout the organization while fostering alignment and engagement.
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the organization's Finance and Accounting functions, ensuring their effective and efficient operation.
  • Regularly analyze budgets and financial reports to maintain profit goals, continuously exploring opportunities to enhance the company's profitability while tracking and reporting on progress.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to optimize financial performance and capitalize on business opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain robust controls and processes to safeguard product profitability and margins, cash flow, costs, and expenses.
  • Assume end-to-end responsibility for the material management, with a particular focus on Purchasing and Distribution Operations.
  • Drive operational efficiencies by collaborating with regional and global partners to achieve best-in-class cost of services.
  • Lead in the development of, as well as implementation and ongoing monitoring of , comprehensive policies and procedures relating to Customer Management.
  • Continuously drive enhancement and optimization of processes, leveraging information and technology systems as a competitive advantage for the company.
  • Work with teams outside of the US to optimize systems, processes, and ways of working with a focus on efficiency, simplification, and data insights.
  • Lead company-wide projects, guiding them to successful outcomes.
  • Serve as a highly accessible leader for day-to-day business needs by maintaining a daily presence in the Concord office for in person, real-time, planned and ad hoc discussions.
  • Actively monitor local industry trends to enable proactive development of strategies to exploit opportunities and circumvent threats.
  • Other responsibilities and duties upon request.

 

About the Candidate: 

We are looking for a strategic and highly driven professional with depth experience of relevant technologies, customers, and markets. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; Masters degree preferred, with 15+ years leading Finance and Operations teams in mid-sized companies. The rockstar candidate for this role will possess a strong sense of urgency and a start-up mindset, is able to demonstrate a strong understanding of, and have a successful track record in, both change management, and has the capability to learn information quickly, identify opportunity areas, and execute on improvement initiatives.

 

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Navigate a matrixed organisation
  • Possess a professional network and toolset enabling immediate results.
  • Experience developing and implementing business plans as well as supporting strategies to achieve growth goals.
  • Extensive experience ERP and FSM systems. Particularly Syteline and SAP.
  • Ability to communicate and operate as a cross-functional team with sales, service, marketing, and other departments.
  • Highly developed commercial understanding.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Desire and capability to work well in a team environment.
  • Possess the ability and drive to get things done quickly with high levels of energy and resilience.
  • Proactively identifies and puts plans in place to optimize processes and approaxced
  • Highly organized with a strong affinity for detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in various formats (verbal, ppt, excel, etc.).
  • Able to accept feedback and modify approach as required.
  • Ability to bring teams of people together, creating alignment across functions.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and overseas as required without restriction, subject to normal visa requirements.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally across all parts of the business.
  • Ability to work cross culturally
  • Written and spoken fluency in English required.
  • Ability to travel as required.
