About the Position
The Vice President of Operations and Management is a hands-on leader with overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all operational and Management aspects of the organization's project, program, and contracting activities. The VP will work closely with company executives and managers to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of analytic and Management consulting services to our government clients while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and contractual requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
The VP of Operations and Management plays a vital role in the efficient Operations and Management of the company requiring a broad range of skills and experience. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the daily Operations and Management of the company and participate in the development, execution, and planning of corporate priorities and strategic initiatives. The VP of Operations and Management is a high trust position that requires a highly motivated professional with strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Areas of responsibility include:
- Strategic Planning: Identify, develop, and implement strategic and operational priorities aligned with the company's overall performance and growth vision.
- Contract Management: Oversee the execution of government contracts, ensuring adherence to contract terms, milestones, and deliverables. Manage contract modifications, extensions, and negotiations as necessary.
- Resource Allocation: Optimize the allocation of resources to support successful contract execution. Ensure adequate staffing levels and skill sets to meet project requirements.
- Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Maintain compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and government policies governing government contracting activities. Implement and enforce internal controls to mitigate compliance risks.
- Quality Assurance and Performance Management: Establish and maintain processes for monitoring and evaluating the quality and performance of government contracts. Implement measures to address issues and improve overall contract performance.
- Financial Management: Collaborate with finance and accounting team to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting related to government contracts. Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with government clients, partners, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the contract lifecycle. Address client concerns and proactively identify opportunities for contract expansion or renewal.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks associated with government contracting activities. Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions and ensure business continuity.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to drive operational excellence and innovation within the organization. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and best practices adoption.
- Team Leadership and Development: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the operations team. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment focused on achieving organizational goals.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Masters in Business Administration, or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- 15+ years of experience in government contracting, with a deep understanding of relevant regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
- 5 - 10 years of leadership, management, and supervisory experience.
- Prior P&L responsibility.
- Proven track record of success in senior leadership roles, with experience managing government clients, contracts, and project teams.
- Experience using business tools, including Microsoft Office Excel, time and accounting, GovWin, Salesforce, or similar applications with the ability to quickly learn other tools as necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable operational plans.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
